Keeping Our Children Safe!
Description of the seminar
Since 1993, the Missing Children’s Network has been offering prevention seminars to parents, in which we focus on the importance of effective communication, as well as the development of sound safety skills in children aged 0 to 12 years old.
Parents will be given guidelines on how to instil some basic rules that include the following:
- The importance of their child learning to listen to his body and trusting his own instincts.
- Saying no in any situation in which the child feels uncomfortable, confused or scared.
- Identifying safe people and places where their child can seek help.
- Using the buddy system when playing outside or going anywhere.
This dynamic and interactive seminar consists of a number of concrete examples illustrating how parents can help empower their children by teaching them age-appropriate safety rules.

- Brochure entitled The Key to Safety –Guidelines for parents of children aged 0-5years and/or The Key to Safety – Guidelines for parents of children aged 6-12 years
- Various documents to reinforce the safety concepts introduced in the seminar
How to reserve a seminar
This seminar runs about an hour and a half, and is available in both French and English to groups of 15 parents or more. The content can be adapted to respond to the group’s individual needs.
- Form a group of minimum 15 participants (there is no maximum).
- Due to the sensitive nature of the topics discussed and in order to facilitate active and open discussion amongst the group, children cannot be present. Please note that we offer personal safety workshops especially designed for children 5 to 12 years old.
- Choose a date that is convenient to your group. The seminar is offered weekdays, during the day or the evening.
- Choose a convenient location, keeping in mind that the seminar is offered in the Greater Montreal area.
- Complete and return the attached registration form (coming soon).
- Once your completed registration form has been received, we will contact you to confirm your reservation.
